Japan Update 001

Greetings,

Seeing as how this is the first entry of this blog, I will start where every good book starts, which is at the beginning.

I've had a longing to visit Japan for a long time, and with the advent of graduation, I wanted to take a step to fulfill what I believe God has placed on my heart to do. So after much prayer and consideration, I took a step and talked with World Indigenous Missions (WIM) and found out that they are connected with a ministry that reaches out to youth and young adults through music, street evangelism and church services. I continued to pursue that by going through WIM's orientation, which is a sort of pre-field training that took place the first week of February 2011.

So here I am, ready to go, praying that God would lead me where He wants me to go. I'm planning to leave around March 11, 2011, although I haven't yet bought my plane ticket. I'm very excited, but a little nervous at the same time about leaving to go to a foreign country for 10 weeks. I wanted to start this blog to keep everyone informed of where I'm at, what I'm doing and what God is doing in me and through me. This will be a big investment that I believe God is wanting to make in me as well as in the lives of some Japanese people.

I will be updating this as often as possible, but I'd like to keep them somewhat brief, so if you have any questions, please contact me or post comments or whatever you'd like to do! I would ask that if you read these regularly, you would please pray for me. There is a lot that I'm weighing out as far as the future is concerned, and Satan does not wait for us to be ready before he attacks. He prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. If I'm to get out of this all that God wants me to get out of this, I must be on my guard. In order to do that while coping with time changes, diet changes and culture shock, I need all of you that would commit to prayer to pray regularly for me and that God would have His way in me and through me.

Thank you for your interest in my life as well as the lives of those who I will be serving in Japan. I cannot wait to recount the stories of what God is doing and will continue to do!

Praise Him,

Travis Keas
